I can remember it like yesterday me and Jack Johnson if I remember the deal was 8 Fill and Caps per day to stay I dont think there was a day when we made the 8 welds It was totaley imposible to make the 8 welds and lugg that f---ing big bag that Jack had with him God knows what he had in that bag. I worked as a tractor driver with Denis Peckitt on the backend welding crew, then worked with Peter Gillespie reinstating, also did a bit of time in the yard working with various welders fabbing up & repairing machinery I worked with "Dick stella Ramsey", Mick'o'mally, Peter Cotter, John Willersey,John Carrebin,Bob Hands,Roy Cass, Kieth Beacroft, I met "Scouse" once on the Easington to Paull 36" & being a young nosey fella i asked "How long have been driving sidebooms" his reply (i will never forget) was "Ive only just started doing it i am a milkman in real life" lol Never have i met such char |
